The Swamp Guardian is fifth boss that the Elder wants you to kill. It can be summoned in the Swamp Caves using a Spiked Fossil.

Fight[edit]

The Swamp Guardian is a fast moving snakelike creature that constantly tries to ram into you. It will dive in and out of ground, and also circle around above ground to try and hit you. It will also constantly be throwing out projectiles as you maneuver, and shoot out even more projectiles as you deal damage to it. This is effectively the entire fight, and it speeds up greatly as it nears death.

The body is made up of many segments, each of which has its own hitbox. This makes AoE weapons and DoT very powerful, as you can hit multiple segments at the same time. Bombs are a low investment way of quickly killing this boss, as is the Lightning Hammer from Dungeon. DoT like the poison from Spider Armor can help damage it as well. If you place Thorns in the area around where you intend to fight the boss or choose to fight it in places where a patch has already spawned, each thorn will deal damage to each segment of the boss, which rapidly depletes its health, though using this method might cause a swarm of projectiles to come at you when the boss goes through a thorn patch.

If grinding it down causes the projectiles to overwhelm you, try using Resilience and deal damage to it slowly instead of with a single target weapon. Ivy Armor, with the helmet, gives you +20 max resilience, the highest armor before Desert or Forest Deep Cave, and, when hit, drops a toxic goo that works similarly to Thorns.

Once the Swamp Guardian dies, the Elder will reward you with a Homestone and a Waystone.
